This training will cover the following:
    Explore cultural issues and biases that negatively impact this population
    • Discuss the unique dynamics of parents with complex needs
    • Explore how to assess and engage parents with cognitive and mental health issues
    • Implementation of effective strategies (communication, avoiding traps, and using a strength-based approach)
    • Understanding the person and not just the diagnosis
    • Developing an individualized strength based plan that provides hope and optimism that change can occur
    • Identifying effective interventions, supports or services
    • Establishing collaborative relationships with system partners
    • Supporting children that have a parent with cognitive/mental health needs
    • Discussion of additional topics identified on the registration form
