ACMH & F2FHIEC Presents: Health Resource Support Parent Training

The session provides resources and information on health
care and public health insurance to persons who serve as
“Support Parents” to fellow parents of children with special
needs. Following the training, Support Parents will be able
to provide families information and resources related
to:
- Types of Public Health Care Coverage: MI Child Healthy Kids, Children's Special Health Care Services
- Transition Resources: Plans and checklists to assist families in planning and involving their youth in health care decision-making processes Representatives from the Michigan Protection and Advocacy Services and the Social Security Administration will discuss guardianship alternatives and applying for SSI
- Services available to children and families with Hereditary Disorders: Counseling, testing and service information
- Emergency Preparedness Resources: Plans and checklists to assist families with their child's health care in case of an emergency
