Lunch will NOT be served. The Devereux Early Childhood Assessment for Infants and Toddlers (DECA I/T) Program is a strength-based system designed to promote the protective factors central to social and emotional health and resilience in our youngest children. These protective factors are Initiative, Attachment/Relationships and Self-regulation.
The DECA I/T Program has several components. On day one of DECA-I/T Program training, participants will be introduced to the Devereux Early Childhood Assessment for Infants and toddlers, a standardized, norm-referenced, reliable and valid assessment of protective factors for children 4 weeks up to 36 months. Participants will learn about resilience theory and protective factors, how to administer the assessment, how to score it and how to summarize results. Furthermore, participants will learn how these results can support their work within the Early On® system.
On Day two of training, participants will learn about and get experience with newly released resources to help plan for and measure change in individual children's attachment/relationships, initiative and self-regulation. These resources include the DECA-I/T Strategies Guide and For Now and Forever: A Family Guide to Supporting Infant and Toddler Social and Emotional Health. Strategies are research based, fun and easy to do! Additionally, participants will learn about resources to help collect information and plan for play groups and socializations and how to support adult resilience by using the newly released Devereux Adult Resilience Checklist and Building Your Bounce: Simple Strategies for a Resilient You.
Attendees can include Early On staff who 1) complete assessments as a regular part of their job and/or 2) persons that are currently writing IFSPs and/or providing service coordination to families on a regular basis and 3) Early On Coordinators or those who support Early On staff regularly.
