Details:

The Michigan Federation for Children and Families is hosting this conference in response to the need for education regarding the effect of trauma on child development as well as effective strategies for intervention. The first day of the conference will feature Dr. Bruce D. Perry, a nationally-recognized expert in neuroscience and child development. The two-day schedule includes more than a dozen additional experts in the child welfare field, all focusing on various aspects of child trauma and state-of-the-art treatment approaches for clinical practice. The conference will provide participants the opportunity to learn new approaches in trauma-informed assessment, response to trauma, sharing treatment interventions and strategies, feeling support and validation, and embracing appropriate self-care to prevent conditions like “burnout” or “compassion fatigue,” characteristic risks faced by care providers and professionals.
