Substance Abuse in Parents & Long-Term Effects of Prenatal Exposure
This seminar will explore the importance of properly assessing maternal drug use and abuse risk-levels of alcohol consumption during pregnancy, as well as the long-term physical, cognitive, and behavioral impact of those exposures on infants and children. The difference between substance dependency and addiction will be examined as well as signs of use.

Presenter: Lisa Ficker MA LLP has served as a Motivational Interviewer for the Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Prevention Project. She has conducted cognitive and clinical assessments of children affected by pre-term alcohol and cocaine exposure.
