This day addresses the Procedural Safeguards required in Early On with emphasis placed on the areas pertaining to the protection of the rights of the child and family throughout the IFSP process. These areas relate specifically to: confidentiality of child and family records; written notice and native language; consent (parents are fully informed of all information relevant to the activity for which consent is sought); and resolution of disagreements. Discussion will also include the responsibility of service coordinators/providers in ensuring families receive and understand their rights.   While the online Procedural Safeguards training provides a basic overview of the topic, this in-person training will take Procedural Safeguards to a deeper level.  The day will provide opportunities to discuss practical situations that arise for providers throughout the Early On process.
