Understanding The Practical and System Level Recommendations for Ensuring Access and Participation of All Young Children
Kristie Pretti-Frontzcak, Ph.D., is President of the Division for Early Childhood (DEC) of the Council for Exceptional Children and a Professor in early childhood intervention, School of Lifespan Development and Educational Sciences at Kent State University (KSU). Kristie received her doctorate in early intervention from the University of Oregon and has extensive experience in preparing preservice and inservice personnel in recommended practices for working with young children and their families. She directs the Early Childhood Intervention Specialist Program at KSU, where she is responsible for preparing preservice teachers to work with children with disabilities from birth to age eight. Kristie frequency provides training and technical assistance to programs interested in the Assessment, Evaluation and Programming System (AEPS), Activity-Based Intervention (ABI), and creating legally defensible and meaningful individualized education plans (IEPs). Her lines of research center on using authentic assessment practices for accountability and programming, effective approaches to working with young children in inclusive settings, and the link between assessment, individualized goals, and quality curriculum.
