This session will provide the opportunity for a conversation with Camille Catlett of the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute. Camille is a co-investigator for the National Professional Development Center on Inclusion. She is currently working with associate degree programs in six states to increase the emphasis on cultural, linguistic, and ability diversity in preservice coursework, practica, and program practices. Camille coordinates the weekly Natural Resources listserv and authors a regular column in Young Exceptional Children. Topics for discussion will include:

What is our vision for the future of early intervention and advancing inclusive communities? What kind of coursework/professional development opportunities and guiding principles will best prepare today's college level students and emerging work force to actualize this vision? What do we faculty really need to know and do to move it forward?

What are current models for establishing effective practica sites? Discussion of a brand new resource for considering the characteristics of programs and practica sites.

Evidence-based resources and instructional approaches for use in teaching and training with emphasis on inclusion, diversity and intentional teaching.
