MDCH Hearing and Vision Screening/EHDI Update

Date:

June 20, 2013

Time:

Training is from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Cost:

No Fee

Details:

The Michigan Department of Community Health Vision and Hearing screening staff, Dr. Rachel Schuman and Jennifer Dakers, MA, CCC-A, will present information on the importance of using calibrated screening equipment to  accurately assess an infant or toddler's current vision or hearing status.  They will provide information on the use of the Sure Sight Vision Screener and the OAE Hearing Screener, as well as ways Early On staff can obtain training on these useful pieces of equipment.  The MDCH is pleased to also provide information on the Early Hearing, Detection, and Intervention program and how Early On can support infants and toddlers who do not pass a hearing screen.

Remember - your OAE and Sure Sight equipment need to be calibrated on a regular basis.  We would like to know how many of you have your equipment calibrated on a regular schedule and, if you haven't had it calibrated in a little while, we'd like to know that too.  Knowing the barriers that prevent calibration will help us understand how we might be able to help.
