An Intensive Three Weekend Retreat

Fall 2003 & Winter 2004

Clinical work demands many things – knowledge, expertise and experience are obviously important. But many people today are aware that what you know is not so important as how you are in the clinical situation. These three weekends will explore ways you can be more fully free to simply be an expansive presence for those you work with. By holding the space, you invite them to grow. In order to do this you must be free – free from your own agendas, your own judgments, your own habitual reactions. During these weekends we will explore and practice ways to develop this freedom to simply “be there” for the other person, with a quiet, uncluttered mind and an open, compassionate heart.

These weekends will offer approximately 42 hours of intensive training. The style is highly interactive, using a lecture/small group exercise/comments and questions format. The weekends' topics build upon one another, giving you the chance to practice what you learn between sessions. They call for a serious investment of your time and energy. If you are willing to make this investment, I promise you that the experience will help you reach deeper than you have ever gone before, and that you will complete the course a quieter, more fully present and compassionate holder of the space.
