Family-Centered Early Intervention
Date:
June 16, 2004
Details:
Workshop Description:Sponsored by Kent ISD, this workshop will provide information on how to plan services for families that are consistent with recommended practice in natural environments. Participants will receive information on the Routines Based Assessment (McWilliam,1992) and how this tool can be used to write outcomes for IFSPs and determine a service delivery configuration that is tailored to support individual families.
Information on theory, philosophy, and evidence in the literature supporting this model will be provided. Participants will be aware of the support for the model, have new tools to be able to implement the model, and also will be involved in activities and discussion on sharing the model with others who may not support the approach.
Learner Outcomes:
1. Participants will be able to conduct a routines-based interview (RBI).
2. Participants will be able to use the information from the RBI to write outcomes
appropriate for an IFSP.
3. Participants will have four questions they can use to facilitate team decisions
on frequency and intensity of services.
4. Participants will have resources they can use to provide information to
families and other providers on the model and its rationale.
