Monday -- System Change in Educaton --Robert Brooks, author and Harvard Medical Center faculty
Robert Brooks is one of today's leading speakers on the themes of resilience, self-esteem, motivation, and family relationships. He has also authored or co-authored several books on these subjects. During the past 25 years, Dr. Brooks has presented nationally and internationally to thousands of parents, educators, mental health professionals, and business people with a message based on encouragement, hope, and resilience. He is renowned for the warmth and humor he uses to bring his insights and anecdotes to life. A 2004 publication, The Power of Resilience: Achieving Balance, Confidence, and Personal Strength in Your Life, may be of interest to Institute attendees.

Daniel Amen, Psychiatrist and Neuroscientist
Daniel Amen, a Board Certified Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist and Clinical Research Neuroscientist, is also an international speaker, best selling author of “Change Your Brain, Change Your Life”, and brain enhancement expert. He is the Medical Director and CEO of Amen Clinics, Inc. Daniel educates companies, organizations and individuals on the importance of brain health and the impact the brain has on every aspect of life.

Robert Ferguson, economist and researcher on Achievement Gap
Ronald Ferguson, Kennedy Lecturer of Public Policy at the School of Government, Harvard University, heads the Achievement Gap Initiative, an interdisciplinary effort to mobilize researchers to help understand and narrow the achievement gap. Ferguson is an MIT-trained economist whose work for the past decade includes research and writing not only on achievement gaps, but on school-based interventions as well.
Thursday -- Implications of Brain Research for Classroom Practice --
Gayle Gregory, educator, author and consultant
Gayle Gregory draws upon years of experience as an elementary, middle and secondary school teacher as she consults internationally on topics spanning from differentiated instruction and brain-compatible learning, to block scheduling and presentation skills. She has authored or co-authored six books on instructional strategies and is a former university course director.
