Strengthening the Parent-Professional Partnership
This workshop is for professionals and parents of children with special needs. It is designed to assist participants to better understand the challenges to forming and maintaining partnerships. Ms. Fialka explores the unique dimensions which complicate this working relationship from both the parent and professional perspectives. She addresses such questions as: Can there truly be a partnership? What does each partner bring to this alliance? How can all partners be more effective in their work together?
As a result of the training and discussion, both parents and professionals gain insights about this working alliance and are better able to collaborate effectively for children with special needs. Janice uses mini-lectures, video clips, and interactive learning activities to ensure a lively and thoughtful experience and exchange of ideas.
